Things your
app will never tell you.

After 7,000+ rides across San Antonio, here are the things I wish every visitor knew before they got in the car.

01
Do not request a stop at a busy intersection.
If you need to stop, give me an address or a parking lot. Asking me to pull over on Fredericksburg or Broadway is unsafe and holds up traffic. Text me before the ride if you need a stop along the way and I will plan it properly.
02
San Antonio operates on respect.
Respect the neighborhoods, the people, and the culture you are a guest in. There is no unsafe part of this city to someone who moves through it with basic human decency. The city gives that energy back every time.
03
The River Walk has two personalities.
The main tourist loop and the Museum Reach north of the Pearl are completely different experiences. Want quiet and local? Go north. Want atmosphere and people watching? Stay on the main loop. I will take you to whichever one fits your night.
04
Fiesta and Spurs nights are a different city.
Order your rideshare before you think you need it. Prices surge and wait times spike fast. I offer scheduled pickups so you are never stranded. Plan ahead and the night takes care of itself.
05
Breakfast tacos before 10 AM or you are doing it wrong.
Most legendary taco spots sell out or shift their menu by mid morning. If you ask me for a breakfast taco recommendation while I am driving you, I am taking that seriously and giving you the real answer. Not the Yelp answer.
06
I am not just your driver.
If you want to actually see San Antonio beyond the River Walk, ask me. I know the best parking for Fiesta, which neighborhoods to walk at night, where to get a real breakfast taco at 2 AM, and which spots are worth the drive. That knowledge is part of the service.

Neighborhood
Vibe Guide

SA is a sprawling city. Each neighborhood has its own personality. Here is the cheat sheet.

Downtown / River Walk
Tourist central but genuinely beautiful. The Museum Reach (north of the Pearl) is way more local and chill than the main loop. Great for first timers and evening walks.
Southtown / King William
The arts district. Victorian mansions, incredible restaurants, galleries, and a laid back creative crowd. Where locals bring visitors they want to impress.
Pearl District
Upscale, trendy, and culinary focused. Old brewery turned SA's premier food and shopping destination. Saturday farmer's market is legendary.
St. Mary's Strip
SA's alternative nightlife epicenter. Dive bars, food trucks, loud music, tattoo shops. Unapologetically gritty. Rideshare in — do not try to park here on weekends.
Alamo Heights / '09'
Old money, quiet streets, upscale boutiques, and established restaurants. The McNay Art Museum is here. Great for a relaxed afternoon.
East Side
Rapidly evolving with rich African American history. Craft BBQ, beer gardens, and new energy alongside deep roots. Hays Street Bridge has the best skyline views in the city.
West Side / Prospect Hill
Deeply Mexican American and home to some of the most authentic food in the city. Not a nightlife spot — a food pilgrimage zone. Ray's Drive Inn is here.
North SA / Stone Oak
Suburban on the surface but hides some of the best authentic Mexican food in the city. The gems are here if you dig past the chain restaurants.

Section 08

Practical
Tips

The real local knowledge that keeps your trip smooth.

Getting Around
  • SA is a sprawling city. You need a car or rideshare to get around effectively.
  • Rideshare is the best option if you plan to drink. Do not try to park on St. Mary's or Downtown on a weekend night.
  • Set your pickup spot BEFORE you start drinking. Fiesta and Spurs nights surge hard.
  • Downtown, Pearl, and Southtown are walkable between each other. Everything else requires a ride.
Weather Reality
  • May through September: Do outdoor activities before 11 AM. After that, you are melting.
  • Drink more water than you think you need. Wear sunscreen and reapply.
  • March and April are the sweet spot. Perfect weather, wildflowers, and Fiesta.
  • Winter is mild. 40s to 60s most days.
Traffic
  • Avoid Loop 1604 and I-35 between 4:00 PM and 6:30 PM. That is the entire tip.
  • 281 North and I-10 West are bad during evening rush.
  • Construction on 35 is constant. Check your route.
Tipping and Safety
  • Cash is king for late night taco trucks, dive bar tips, and Market Square vendors.
  • 20% at restaurants, $1 to $2 per drink at bars, 15 to 20% for rideshare if your driver was solid.
  • Downtown, Pearl, Southtown, and Alamo Heights are safe day and night.
  • Always verify your rideshare driver's plate and name before getting in.
